If you have a domain name managed through another registrar and you wish to transfer it to Freeola & GetDotted to take advantage of our hosting offers and services, you can do so easily through the Freeola or GetDotted websites.
This short guide will take you through the process for three main domain types: Nominet (.co.uk and .uk, for example), Top-Level Domains (.com, .net, .org etc.) and CentralNic domains (.uk.com and similar).
.CO.UK, .ORG.UK, .ME.UK, .UK & Similar (Nominet)
.COM, .NET, .ORG & Similar (TLDs)
.UK.COM & Similar (CentralNic)
If your domain name has an extension ending in .UK (.CO.UK is the most popular example) then transferring to another registrar is quick and easy.
Firstly, contact your existing registrar (or domain provider) and ask them to change the IPS Tag to FREEOLA.
This is sometimes simply referred to as the 'tag'.Once the tag has been changed - usually this is instant but can take a few hours - log into your MyFreeola Control Panel and from the left-hand menu select Domain Names & DNS then Transfer Domains In/Out.
![Transfer Domains In/Out]()
On the following page, navigate to the section headed Transfer Domains In To Freeola & Get Dotted (typically found at the top of the page) and enter your domain name within the Transfer a domain to your portfolio field, then click Add.
![Transfer In Domain Name]()
A quick check will be run on the domain, and if entered correctly you will be offered a Transfer In option.
![Transfer In]()
Clicking this button will take you to a GetDotted page where a quick check will be run on the domain and, if the tag has changed as required, you will be prompted to confirm a series of statements relating to domain ownership and our Terms & Conditions, plus decide what actions you would like to take with the DNS.
![Yes transfer to GetDotted]()
Once you have confirmed acceptance of the statements on the transfer page, click Continue To Trolley.
If you are unable to continue it may be that the IPS Tag hasn't changed yet. If you are still seeing this error 24 hours after requesting this from your registrar, we would advise you contact them directly to ensure your request was successful.
Once you have completed the checkout process, the domain name will appear within your MyFreeola Control Panel ready to use.
Alternatively, you can also enter your domain name directly on the GetDotted Transfer In page, which follows the same checks and processes listed above.
If your domain name uses a 'Top Level' domain name extension, such as .COM, .ORG or .NET then domain name transfers are controlled by an EPP (or Auth) Code.
Firstly, contact your existing registrar (or domain provider) and ask them to Unlock the Domain and provide you with the EPP/Auth Code.
Typically this can be done from within your Admin Control Panel on their website.Once the domain name has been unlocked and you are in possession of the Auth Code - usually you can be provided this instantly but it can sometimes take a few hours - log into your MyFreeola Control Panel and from the left-hand menu select Domain Names & DNS then Transfer Domains In/Out.
